Polypropylene color masterbatches are widely used in areas such as polypropylene yarns, short fibers, and non-woven fabrics, directly affecting the coloring effect of the fibers and the stability of the spinning process. As a purchaser, the two things you are most concerned about are basically: whether the color is accurate and whether the dispersion is good. Below, from the production perspective, we will introduce how we control these two aspects. 

I. Formula Design and Carrier Matching 

The performance of Polypropylene color masterbatch is primarily determined by the rational combination of pigment selection, carrier resin and dispersion system. 

Carrier matching: Based on the customer's spinning process (such as FDY, BCF, staple fibers, etc.), select the carrier resin of polypropylene grade that matches the fluidity, ensuring good compatibility with the matrix, and reducing breakage during spinning and filter screen blockage. 

Color selection: Use heat-resistant and migration-resistant pigment varieties. Match the corresponding temperature resistance levels for different spinning temperature ranges. Do not randomly replace the pigments just to reduce costs. 

Dispersion aids: Add wetting agents and dispersants as needed to help the pigments distribute evenly, while also taking into account the retention rate of the mechanical properties of the fibers. 

It should be noted that there are normal fluctuations in the raw materials from different batches. Before each batch of color masterbatch is produced, we will first make a small sample to confirm the color, and then compare it with the standard sample before proceeding with the production of the large quantity. 

II. Uniformity of Distribution and Process Control 

Styrene masterbatch is most prone to color spots, color fibers or batch color differences. In our production process, we pay attention to the following aspects: 

Double screw mixing: Use an appropriate combination of screws and processing temperature to ensure that the pigments fully depolymerize and are evenly distributed in the carrier. During the production process, samples are taken at regular intervals to observe the dispersion effect after tabletting or film blowing. 

Filtering system: Equipped with appropriate mesh sizes of filter screens to remove possible agglomerated particles or impurities, thereby reducing the risk of crystal points during the spinning process. 

Batch retention and comparison: Samples and color charts are retained for each batch of products. During the production of the next batch, a comparison of color and dispersion effect will be conducted with the retention samples from the previous batch to ensure that the color difference between batches remains within an acceptable range. 

Furthermore, for the color masterbatches used for fine-diameter yarn or high-speed spinning, we will pay extra attention to the filtration pressure and the replacement cycle of the spinning components. We will conduct simulation verification before shipment.

Specify the process type: FDY, BCF, staple fiber or non-woven fabric? Different processes have different requirements for temperature resistance level and dispersion fineness. 

Request for color samples and samples: Conduct in-machine or blow-molding tests to observe whether there are any color spots, whether the dispersion is uniform, and whether the color is accurate. 

Confirm batch consistency: The supplier is required to provide color swatches from multiple recent batches for comparison, to assess the stability of color and dispersion effects.
